Bankstown West Public School is a small but dynamic school community which combines the essential elements of highly trained and committed teachers, enthusiastic and well behaved students and supportive parents.

The progressive educational  programs and school curriculum are related to the needs of all students. With a school community which is 98% Non-English Speaking Background the school supports up to twenty different cultures.

The learning, spiritual, social and community needs of our students are addressed by a Literacy based curriculum with:

  • Class programs demanding high expectations while encompassing the English as a Second Language needs of students.
  • Ongoing, rigorous Teacher Professional Learning for the teaching staff committed to Quality Teaching.
  • Teachers sharing expertise and professional development in a Community of Schools project with three neighbouring primary schools and Condell Park High School.
  • Strong community liaison programs, including adult computer training and community education.
  • Quality ICT programs supported by Interactive Whiteboards in almost every classroom.
  • Our renowned Visual Arts program which sustains the Literacy focus and allows students to produce quality artwork for display in regional art galleries.
  • Community Language programs in Arabic and Vietnamese.
  • An English as a Second Language [ESL] teacher with TESOL qualifications.
  • Reading Recovery.
  • Funding from the Priority Schools Program and Low SES National Partnerships project.
  • Active After School Sports funded by the Australian Sports Commission.
  • Before and After School Care facilities.
  • Playgroup

Bankstown West PS  is often referred to as “a country school in the city” because of the welcoming environment of native trees and plants set around heritage buildings combined with our culture of acceptance and tolerance.
